CrossFit owners Chad and Alison Evans recently opened a new health and fitness facility in the Golden Ears Business Centre (across from the airport) in Pitt Meadows.
A few dozen people attended the grand opening celebration held recently at CrossFit in Pitt Meadows.
During a grand opening party, Pitt Meadows Mayor Deb Walters (left) congratulated CrossFit owner Alison Evans on the opening on a new fitness centre on Airport Way.
Maple Ridge author and artist Annette LeBox was at the 3 Crows Gallery and Giftware in Mission on Saturday, where a showing including some of her art was opened. Here she is posing with her piece entitled Breakthrough.
Cathy Dyer (left) Gail Springer (standing), Arlene Major, and Lorraine Jewell, volunteers at the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 88, were manning the meat draw recently, raising money for high school scholarships.
Students from Madame Tesha Wade’s class at Eric Langton tucked into a pizza lunch as part of their prize for winning first place in the Literacy Challenge hosted by the Maple Ridge-Pitt Meadows-Katzie Community Literacy Committee. Thanks to their efforts, the class won a Smart Board for the school – donated by Sharp’s Audiovisual –  as well as a pizza lunch from the literacy committee and $250 worth of books from Ridge Meadows Education Foundation.
Tom Cameron was awarded a Queen’s Diamond Jubilee Medal, by Prime Minister Stephen Harper, for his contribution to the community for exemplary commitment to volunteerism and service to others. A ceremony took place in Burnaby on Feb. 8.
