Investments spell hypocrisy

Dear Editor,

Public pensions, through the BCIMC (B.C. Investment Management Corp.), are invested in evil, greedy big businesses such Enbridge, Kinder Morgan, BP PLC (the company involved in the 2010 Deepwater Horizon disaster in the Gulf of Mexico).

The University of Victoria has $50 million invested in oil-sands and tobacco companies, and even weapons companies are part of their portfolio.

Gwen Barlee of the Wilderness Committee has correctly said, "To say I am astounded is an understatement."

Ms. Barlee should also know the unions do not pay income tax on investment income. Can anyone spell hypocritical?
