Photos: GETI Fest villages get festive
A festival held in Maple Ridge showcased eco-friendly ways to work, live, and play in the community

The second annual GETI Fest was an ecofriendly success at Memorial Peace Park on Saturday, according to organizers.
GETI (Golden Ears Transition Initiative) Fest organizer Gerry Pinel said the event was "fabulous."
"GETI Fest is all about community. This is what it's really about. It's about drawing all the different people together and creating a village atmosphere where everybody knows everybody else and you can work, live, and play in your own community," said Pinel.
Lisa Eastham, who made the hanging signs for each village, said the attendance was great. "It has been amazing. This is our second year and it's bigger and better. It's been awesome, and I'm so pleased with the turnout."
This year's festival included four villages - an eco-village that showcased GETI action groups, community organizations, and local businesses, an artisan village with 30 exhibitors, a village with the regular Saturday Haney Farmers Market, and the fourth village was the Girl Guides.
GETI is an organization that promotes sustainable, resilient, and vibrant communities and the festival is meant to showcase its many facets.
