Dear Editor,
I could not help but comment on Shane Perich's diatribe against unions and their support for the NDP [History shows bent for unions, Feb. 26 Letters, www.mrtimes.com].
He is "right" that unions have and do supply the bulk of funding to the NDP.
But he fails to include in his discourse the fact that the corporations fund their "right" candidates to the tune of millions of dollars.
It seems a bit hypocritical to slam the NDP for accepting donations from unions, when the corporate controllers of our society are giving millions to their bought-off politicians every election.
Democracy has been bought and hijacked by the major corporations that run our world. Just look at who funds the right-wing politicians, and the corporate rewards they receive after leaving office.
How sweet it is for the right-wing politicians who engage in selling off our Canadian interests, and then are rewarded dearly by these corporations after they leave office.
Citizens need to wake up to the fact that they are paying more and more of the costs these days in the form of fees (the new name for taxes), energy cost, food costs. the list goes on and on.
And all the while, the corporate CEOs are raking in millions and millions at our expense.
It's not the unions that are the problem, it's the corporations who are fleecing us.
