BURNING BAN LIFTED
This weekend's torrential rains came at just the right time for backyard burning in Maple Ridge. Leading into the weekend, fire officials were fearful the long stretch of hot, dry weather would cause them to postpone burning. But a damp weekend ensured permits could be issued to qualified residents from Oct. 15 to Nov. 15, said assistant fire chief Timo Juurakko.

AUTISM EXPERTS MEET

MISTRIAL CONSIDERED
The case against Dennis Warrington, who is facing two charges of producing and distributing child pornography from a rave in Pitt Meadows in September 2010, is in limbo as the defence lawyer has asked for a mistrial. A decision on the mistrial application will be made on Oct. 24.

MISSING GIRL FOUND
An 11-year-old girl, who went missing from her Maple Ridge home last week, was found during the weekend. Ridge Meadows RCMP reported that Asia Kashino was found "safe and in good health."
"Police want to thank all citizens and the media who assisted [in finding her]," said Ridge Meadows RCMP Sgt. Dale Somerville.
