Recently the owners of the Jolly Coachman Pub in Pitt Meadows, Marilyn Sanders and Dave Crown, thought it would be a good idea to raise money for the Canuck Place Children's Hospice because 25 per cent of the operating revenue of the hospice had been coming from 50-50 draws during the games.

But now that the hockey season is back on, the Jolly Coachman will continue with the fundraiser until the end of February.

Self-proclaimed Canucks junkie Loraine Scott, who works at the Jolly Coachman liquor store, hosts the draws every Thursday night, because she says, "it's a cause near and dear to her heart."

It was Crown's idea to christen the 50-50 draw as "No season, all the more reason."

So far they have raised $5,910.

PST RETURNING

Also, on Feb. 7, from 5: 30 to 7: 30 p.m. the Chamber of Commerce is hosting Tips on Transitioning from HST to PST. The guest speaker will be Kathi Halpin, who specializes in accounting for small to medium businesses, tax planning for private corporations, and estate and trust compliance. For non-members the cost is $10, for members it is free.

The event takes place at West Coast Ford Lincoln.
