Dear Editor,
"When we say that Canada is open for business, we do not mean that Canada is for sale to foreign governments." - Stephen Harper (Dec 7, 2012)
On Friday, Dec 7, that's exactly what Harper did. It was done with no parliamentary discussion on the merits or hazard it will have on Canada.
When the Conservatives finally enact FIPA, we will be held hostage any time CNOOC feels Canada is doing something not in their best interest.
Harper was dead against PetroCan being a national oil company, but allows China's national oil company to have access. This is a country whose human rights is atrocious, but the Conservatives turn a blind eye.
The Chairman of CNOOC described that company's oil investments as "mobile national territory and a strategic weapon."
Our so-called representative Randy Kamp sits idly by like the rest of the trained-seal backbenchers, and says nothing.
Welcome to the People's Republic of Canada.
