The arrival of fall weather this past weekend didn't help attendance at the Group of Nine's two-day art sale.

Nevertheless, organizer Betty Coy said the event - held at St. George's Anglican Church - was a success.

The show ran Saturday and Sunday, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. daily.

"It's been very steady, and all the people who came through have given us their feedback," Coy explained. "They've told us what they like."

The sale featured local artists Jean Abbott, Margaret Bale, Joyce Campbell, Shirley Gelgner, Suzette Fram, Jane Duford Johnston, Jo-Anne Lewis, and Florence Nicholson, as well as Coy.

The Group of Nine is a local art group, made up of artists who meet once a month to critique each others works.

They are all members of the Garibaldi Arts Club and the Federation of Canadian Artists, as well, but Coy said that's not a prerequisite. It just happened that way.

"We've had men ask to see if we'd consider expanding to a group of 12, so they could join us, but we say our dining room table only holds nine," she said with a chuckle. "It's as good an answer as any."
