Ridge Meadows RCMP are investigating a report of assault with a weapon and threats stemming from a police incident in Maple Ridge Thursday night.

Police were called to the condominium unit in the 11100 block of 232 Street just after 6 p.m. Thursday, Oct 20th.

A man had come to the residence and gained entry without permission.  He then allegedly threatened the occupants of the home while brandishing a knife.

Members of Ridge Meadows RCMP, Lower Mainland District’s Emergency Response Team, the Integrated Police Dog Services, and Air One responded, and a thorough search of the residence – and surrounding area – was conducted. However the suspect was not located.

The suspect is known, "and the search for his whereabouts continues," said Ridge Meadows RCMP Cpl. Brenda Winpenny. "There is no indication he poses a threat to the general public, and investigators are working with the residents of the home to ensure their safety.”

The investigation and search for the suspect is continuing.
