Scissor-brandishing bandit hits Maple Ridge gas station
Mounties are hunting for a man brandishing scissors who made off with money and cigarettes from a west Maple Ridge gas bar Saturday morning.
The "armed" heist occurred at about 10:30 a.m. at the Shell gas station at 203rd Street and Lougheed Highway, explained Ridge Meadows RCMP Sgt. Brenda Gresiuk.
The lone male entered the store wielding the scissors and threatening the store employee, making off with an undisclosed amount of money and cigarettes, Gresiuk said.
Fleeing the store, the suspect was last seen driving south on 203 Street, towards Hammond, in a black Dodge Ram pickup. Witnesses report there was a black tonneau cover over the rear box of the truck.
The assailant is described as a Caucasian male, approximately six feet tall, with a medium build, clean shaven, and short red hair.
He was wearing a black baseball hat, sunglasses, black jacket, black jeans, and grey running shoes, Gresiuk said.
"The investigation is continuing," she said, putting out a call for help.
"Anyone who was in this area Saturday around 10:30 a.m. and has any information or knowledge on this crime is asked to contact Ridge Meadows RCMP at 604 463-6251."
