A man and woman were arrested and one man still remains at large, following a pawn shop robbery Thursday afternoon in downtown Maple Ridge.

At about 2 p.m., Ridge Meadows RCMP were called to the Common Exchange pawn shop in the 22300 block of Lougheed Hwy.

Initial reports came in calling for paramedics to attend to a gunshot victim. Later, it came out that it was a pepper spray incident.

Police say two men wearing disguises entered the business, discharged pepper spray in the direction of employees, and then stole several items from the store before running away.

A store employee gave chase and he was joined by an officer who was nearby who apprehended this suspect after a foot pursuit.

The second suspect, a man, was seen getting into a dark coloured car driven by a woman, and they drove away.

A short time later a woman was arrested in another Lower Mainland jurisdiction and police are linking her to the crime.

Police say the second man is still at large.

The two suspects are expected to make a court appearance later today (Thursday August 11).

Anyone who has any information regarding this crime is asked to call Ridge Meadows RCMP at 604 463-6251, or if you wish to remain anonymous call CRIME STOPPERS at 1 800 222-8477 or leave a TIP online at www.solvecrime.ca.
