Senior dies after being struck by car in Maple Ridge Monday

A senior woman is dead after being struck by a car early Monday morning.

Around 8:20 a.m., Monday, an 86-year-old woman was hit by a car as the woman was crossing on Dewdney Trunk Road at 228 Street.

Ridge Meadows RCMP, BC Ambulance Service, and Maple Ridge Fire Department attended and provided emergency first aid to the victim before she was rushed to hospital by ambulance.

The medical intervention was unable to save the woman.

The driver of the car remained at the scene and is cooperating with the police investigation.

The Integrated Crash Analyst Reconstructionist Services (ICARS) is assisting Ridge Meadows RCMP with the investigation.

Police are asking for anyone who witnessed the crash, and have not yet spoken with an investigator, to call Ridge Meadows RCMP at 604 463-6251.
