Reports of a “large” cat in the Yennadon area on Wednesday kept elementary kids inside their school.

Police confirmed at least one report in the area of 128th Avenue, but said Mounties were uable to find the cat, and have subsequently notified B.C. Conservation, said Staff Sgt. Phil Neetz.

“It was a precautionary thing,” he said of the so-called school lockdown.

Reports of a large cat could be mean anything, Neetz said, noting it could be a cougar or some type of large domestic cat.
