An incident in east Maple Ridge Friday night (April 15) has left an Abbotsford man in hospital with significant injury to his upper body, and police are looking for information from the public.

At about 9:15 p.m., police responded to a 911 call of a man injured on the street of 116th Avenue and Cottonwood Drive. The man was taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

"We are still investigating the circumstances, we still don't know exactly what occurred," Ridge Meadows RCMP Sgt. Ken Moe told The TIMES.

Ridge Meadows RCMP Corp. Brenda Winpenny said the "initial indication was the man was assaulted by two unknown men with a weapon, not a firearm.  No arrests have been made, while the victim remains in hospital recovering.  The investigation into the aggravated assault is continuing.”
