A 23 year-old motorcyclist remains in hospital with serious injuries after a crash with an SUV on Saturday.
Just after 4:30 p.m. police were called to the intersection of Dewdney Trunk Road and 272nd Street, where early investigation shows the motorcyclist either didn’t stop, or was unable to avoid the SUV, which was waiting for another vehicle to complete a left turn from Dewdney Trunk Road. The impact resulted in the motorbike and rider being thrown forward onto the roadway.
Maple Ridge fire department and BC Ambulance responded to the accident and the victim was airlifted to hospital.
A third vehicle travelling eastbound struck the motorbike which was lying in the roadway and crashed off the road, causing injuries to that driver as well.
“The 23-year-old motorcycle operator is in very serious condition as a result of this crash,” said Sgt. Dale Somerville. “Ridge Meadows RCMP Traffic Services and the RCMP Integrated Collision Analyst and Reconstructionist Services are actively investigating and more should be known in the next few days.”
In the meantime, police are asking anyone who may have witnessed this crash and have not yet spoken to a police officer, to contact Ridge Meadows RCMP at 604-463-6251
