Baby Avery made a fast entry into this world - and was celebrated as the first baby of 2013 at Ridge Meadows Hospital.

Her parents, Barbra and Blair Boyd watched the ball drop at midnight on New Year's Eve from bed at their Maple Ridge home, lamenting the fact this was the first year they weren't out celebrating the New Year.

But just an hour later, Barbra started getting serious contractions, and around 1: 45 a.m. they arrived at Ridge Meadows Hospital.

Avery was born so fast, the doctor didn't make it to the delivery and she was delivered by the hospital's nurses.

Reacting to the birth of his second daughter, Blair said he was "as happy as I can be if she's as good as Kenzie."

The proud big sister, six-year-old Kenzie, said she was excited, but she didn't want deal with diapers.

Avery Grace Boyd was born at 4: 21 a.m. on Jan. 1 and weighed six pounds, two ounces at birth.
