Virtual real estate is big business these days and there is loads of money to be made in domain names.
Just ask the guys at Maple Ridge-based Left of the Dot Media, who are like property developers for the Internet.
It was less than two years ago that the two founders Chris Jensen and John Lyotier wondered if they could make it in Maple Ridge. Now they have a staff of more than 20 with a modern office and plenty of space to grow.
But even more interesting is that LOTD has recently launched Christmas.com, one of the most popular brand names on the Internet.
LOTD is counting on Christmas.com to remove the stress of Christmas shopping by providing easy to modify online wish lists that are simple to share with friends and family, and easy to manage and navigate online shopping.
Jensen said that they understand that managing a site that is as high profile as Christmas.com is a huge responsibility.
“There is a certain duty of care when it comes to Christmas.com and we have to do it right,” he said.
Icy advertising in Pitt arena
In the beginning of January staff at the Pitt Meadows arena are expecting the arrival of a new Zamboni.
Imagine watching that sleek $100,000 ice-surfacing machine glide across the rink with your company’s logo wrapped around it.
Well imagine no longer. For a cool $3,000, it’s available, as well as other advertising opportunities from dasher boards to banners to illuminated signs.
