Weather conditions were perfect for the annual BCSPCA Paws for a Cause charity dog walk at the Albion Fairgrounds this weekend.
In contrast to last year's searing heat, the overcast skies on Sunday translated to a strong attendance by local canines and their support teams, said Mark Vosper, manager of the Maple Ridge shelter.
Consequently the 109 registrants had a "good time" and raised some much needed dollars for the local animal shelter.
While Vosper said donations are still being received online and he won't be able to confirm a final figure for a few weeks yet, he's optimistic they'll reach or surpass last year's fundraising tally of $13,000.
"It was a fantastic turn-out and a fantastic event," he said. "Conditions were literally perfect for dog-walking."
"I feel very confident and upbeat and happy that we have so much great support from residents of Maple Ridge and Pitt Meadows, and volunteers who make it possible year after year," Vosper said immediately after the walk.
