Hammond Neighbours trunk sale went off without a hitch today. Or maybe there was a hitch for sale there.
From 10 a.m. til 2 p.m. about a dozen Maple Ridge residents brought their unwanted treasures to the Hammond Community Centre’s parking lot and took part in the garage-sale style gathering.
“We were just saying why don’t they have sales like they have in England called boot sales, and then just like that we see this one,” said Mike Gardner, who lives a couple blocks away from the community centre.
“It’s a much more environmentally friendly way to garage sale. You don’t have to drive around all over the place checking things out,” said Gardner’s wife Tina.
Mike Kukka was there with a truck load of goods.
“We should do this every weekend when it’s nice out – why not?” Kukka said.
The next event for Hammond Neighbours is an empty lot clean-up on the corner of 203rd Street and 118th Avenue on Friday, Aug. 24 and Saturday, Aug. 25 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
