Donna Heikkila, the principal at Edith McDermott, was so proud of her students this week.
For weeks they have been filling up their "Giving Tree" in the foyer of their school with pyjamas, toys, clothing, and hand-knitted scarves.
These will go to families in need, to Cythera Transition House - a need identified by the women's shelter as some women and children need to flee in the night, Heikkila explained - and the Caring Place.
Students in the knitting club also used their needles to make some warm woollies for the less fortunate.
Getting into the spirit of Christmas, Mrs. Julia Ashlee's Grade 3 students at Edith McDermott submitted their colourful interpretation of Christmas to The TIMES for publication.
It was hard to choose the one for this page as they were all beautiful - find the rest at www. mrtimes.com.
