One lucky senior is going home for the holidays thanks to a Christmas contest being hosted by the local Nurse Next Door.

For most people, Christmas is a busy and sociable time filled with joy and time spent with loved ones. To help bring some Christmas spirit to those often forgotten, they're holding a contest aimed at bringing a senior home for the holiday.

"For seniors living in medical facilities, often the reason they cannot make it home for the holidays is because they require the assistance of trained caregivers or medical staff," said Carol Lange, owner of Nurse Next Door Maple Ridge. "If the elderly patients' family members are unable to help with their daily living activities and care needs, the senior may not be discharged."

The winner will be provided with two days of complimentary home-care services based on their individual needs, including a delicious meal preparation, transportation and errand running, and 24/7 care from a registered nurse. The deadline for a 300-word submissions is Dec. 19. Send it in to www.nursenextdoor.com.
