Food, entertainment, and fun are a great way to pass a Saturday night and when it’s to help a good cause, all the better.
The Pitt Meadows Community Foundation (PMCF) will host its annual fundraising dinner at the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch #88 on 224th Street in Maple Ridge on Saturday.
According to PMCF director Ineke Boekhorst, it’s an enjoyable way to spend the evening.
“Anybody can come,” she said. “It’s just a fun night out. The food and drink are already there, and there will be some great people. It’s all for a really, really good cause.”
Tickets for the evening are $20 and include the choice of either a steak or chicken dinner plus one drink. The event starts at 6:30 p.m. with dinner served at 7:30 p.m.
In addition to being an affordable night out, the evening helps raise funds for a variety of community programs and activities in Pitt Meadows.
Cash raised from the dinner will top up the interest earned on the organization’s endowment fund to create the foundation’s annual donation pool.
“We support any community need in Pitt Meadows,” Boekhorst said. “This fundraiser in particular is to support annual needs.”
While there will be a number of people to chat to and get to know Saturday night, other activities will include door prizes, a 50/50 draw, a silent auction, and live entertainment arranged by the Legion.
Prior contributions from the dinner have assisted with the food bank, purchasing computers for seniors, and instruments for school children to participate in music programs.
