“The Pitt” is the new name of the youth action park in Pitt Meadows, submitted by 12-year-old Braeden Fletcher. Pitt Meadows Mayor Deb Walters said she and City council all loved the name and are excited to make it official. In his park-naming submission, Braeden wrote: “I think that the Pitt Meadows skate park name should be ‘The Pitt.’ I think it suits the park because it looks like a pit in the centre and the two ‘T’s because the city name has two, and I think it just looks cool.”

Youth were involved right from the beginning with planning, designing, and finally naming the park.

“It just makes sense. What I like about the process most is it just involves the youth. By them taking ownership, they will take care of it. They’re pretty proud of it,” Walters said.

Braeden also won a $100 gift certificate to Zoomies.
