The Fraser River All Nation Aboriginal Society (FRANAS) would like to have a permanent gathering place for people of all nations.
This would allow them to have a place to learn about their traditional cultures, a place for teaching and gathering, said board member Yvonne Desabrais.
"The dream of all dreams would be a place to gather," she said.
At the Aboriginal Day ceremonies at Memorial Peace Park, FRANAS board members were giving out information about the society as well as "witness stones," which are given to people who witness an event or ceremony.
The society is open to all nations, aboriginal or not, Desabrais said, adding that "every nation matters."
The society was incorporated almost one year ago and with new members coming on board, everyone is "gung-ho" to achieve their vision, mission, and purpose, said Desabrais, who is Metis.
The society is still looking for more board members.
