When Abraham Lincoln is speaking to a crowd in the Oscar-nominated film Lincoln, the U.S. flag is fluttering proudly behind him. You can almost count all 50 stars. Unfortunately, this is a version of the flag that wasn’t introduced until 1959, when Hawaii joined the union.

Another Oscar hopeful, Quentin Tarantino’s Django Unchained, features several scenes in which people are blown up with dynamite, despite the fact that the film is set in 1858 and dynamite wasn’t invented until 1867.

Those are just a couple of errors viewers have found in the nine movies that are up for Academy Awards as best picture. The mistakes, compiled by the website Digititles.com, found Django Unchained led with 54, followed closely by Ben Affleck’s CIA thriller Argo with 44. Only Michael Haneke’s Amour was found to be mistake-free.
