Hody Lye warned that people should be careful who they’re friends with – or they could end up bald.
Lye is friends with Athletes In Kind (AIK) founder Lorie Muller, who has organized the headshave fundraiser for nine years and also helped Lye prepare her hair before the big shave on Saturday.
“Since 2005, AIK has donated more than $100,000 to B.C. Childhood Cancer Parents Association at [BC] Children’s Hospital,” said Lye, who is not a runner anymore but supports the clubs efforts.
“It’s totally awesome,” said Lye.
Lye, who owns Somatic Balance Massage Therapy in Osprey Village, said last year the head shave raised $5,000.
“We are hoping to at least match the amount we made last year,” she explained.
About dying her hair hot pink, Lye said, “Pink is the colour of the FINN bike team who will be wearing their pink jerseys to the headshave. Plus, my hair isn’t long enough to donate, so the pink is to have fun.”
BCCCPA gives to families whose children are undergoing cancer treatment.
