December 1

. Maple Ridge Christmas in the Park and Santa Claus Parade run from 4 to 8 p.m. with free family entertainment, including live music on the bandstand, a live nativity scene, and a Christmas craft tent where kids can make ornaments. And Santa will be in his yurt, where children can get a free 4x6-inch photo with the jolly man and drop off their letters to Santa in his mailbox. Just before 6 p.m., Santa will leave his yurt for the lighting of a peace tree - which signifies the start of the Christmas parade getting underway at the corner of Plaza Street and Dewdney Trunk Road After the parade, the Johnson Brothers will entertain on the bandstand from 7: 30 to 8 p.m.

. The fourth annual Christmas Market, put on by the Maple Ridge Downtown Business Improvement Association, takes place from 4 to 8 p.m. in conjunction with the Christmas in the Park and the Santa Claus Parade. The event is held in the covered area on the north side of the park.

A comical take on Charles Dickens' A Christmas Carol, put on by Monster Theatre and written by and featuring Ryan Gladstone and Tara Travis (from Maple Ridge), will be at The ACT at 4 p.m. Tickets start at $13 and are on sale now at The ACT ticket centre, by calling 604476-2787, or visiting www. theactmapleridge.org.

. Breakfast with Santa, put on by NorthRidge Foursquare Church, starts at 8 a.m. at Thomas Haney Centre, 23000 116th Ave. There will be door prizes, facepaint-ing, crafts, goodie bags, and more. Pre-register at online@ nrchurch.ca or call Leah Schofield at 604-323-4337. The cost is $5 per person.

The 10th anniversary of A Country Christmas Benefit Concert for Meals on Wheels, presented by Maple Ridge-Pitt Meadows Community Services, is on from 1: 30 to 4 p.m. Tickets are on sale at The ACT for $14 each. There will be a silent auction in the foyer from 11: 30 a.m. to 3 p.m. (no concert ticket needed) as a fundraiser for community services. Info: 604-467-6911, ext. 206.

. Eric Langton PAC is holding a holiday craft fair and carnival between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. at the school 12138 Edge St. As well as crafts, there will also be photos with Santa, kids craft tables, a story time, cake walk, fish pond, and much more.

. The Holy Wow Poets' Christmas Show takes place at The ACT at 7 p.m. There will be a Christmas poetry recital and poets and spectators are welcome. Bring something for the food bank.
