A police chopper chase through Pitt Meadows late Saturday night resulted in the arrest of a 33-year-old Port Coquitlam man.
Just after midnight on Saturday, a police helicopter spotted a scooter being driven erratically on Lougheed Highway near the Meadow Gardens Golf Course.
Police in the helicopter contacted Ridge Meadows RCMP, and they were able to catch the driver in the 18200 block of Lougheed Highway a short time later.
Air One, the Integrated Police Helicopter for the Lower Mainland District, helped local Mounties find and arrest Shane Calvin Erickson, according to Cpl. Alanna Dunlop with Ridge Meadows RCMP.
“The motor scooter he was operating had been reported stolen to Ridge Meadows RCMP on July 15, 2013, and Mr. Erickson’s driving privileges are currently prohibited by the Motor Vehicle Branch,” said Dunlop.
Erickson was held over the weekend and appeared in court on Monday, Aug. 12, where he was remanded in custody until his bail hearing on Thursday, Aug. 15.
“Mr. Erickson is well known to Ridge Meadows RCMP for property-related offences, and driving while prohibited. He has also been charged with failing to comply with conditions of his probation order,” concluded Dunlop.
