A new Shoppers Drug Mart planned for the north side of Fraser Highway in Murrayville drew a little opposition from neighbours at Langley Township council.

At the Feb. 4 public hearing, Paul Vinson, who lives near the site at the 22000 block of 50th Avenue where the store is planned, said it isn't the right site.

The are was zoned for suburban homes, Vinson said. "There is more than adequate commercial space to the south side of Fraser Highway," Vinson said.

The project will add nothing that Murrayville residents don't already have access to, Vinson said.

He cited concerns about increased traffic, ambient light, and more noise from Fraser Highway.

Another resident wrote in to say he was opposed due to the inclusion of a coffee shop on the corner lot, while the Township received one letter in support.

Township council will consider the project at a regular meeting, and may vote on the rezoning.
