Announcement timing was petty

Dear Editor,

Apparently, spring begins sometime in February in Vancouver, as stated by Conservative MP Wai Young, and on March 20 everywhere else in Canada.

That was her answer to the early closure of the Kitsilano Coast Guard Station. She said it should not have been a surprise, even though no one was told about it. Of course, it wasn't timed to happen the day the B.C. budget was coming down so no one would be watching. Right?

This is more of the same from our petty and vindictive prime minister who consistently announces things while out of the country or late on Friday nights, to keep the fallout to a minimum. The Conservatives spend multi-millions on their pathetic TV ads but close the base in one of the busiest ports in Canada to save $700,000.

The rest of the Conservative lapdog MPs from B.C. are silent on this issue.
