A long table will be set outdoors and diners can enjoy a five-course meal of local food and wine while supporting the Friends In Need Food Bank.
The Haney Farmers Market and Golden Ears Cheesecrafters have teamed up to create a True North Fraser-branded epicurean event this Saturday evening, the Long Table Dinner, featuring Fraser Valley food and wine.
"Not only are we featuring five wine-paired courses, but there will also be a sparkling wine reception featuring the best of our award-winning cheeses, plus other special treats throughout the evening," said Lynn Davison, one of the owners of Golden Ears Cheesecrafters, which is hosting the alfresco event.
Some of the highlights include a North Fraser charcuterie plate, a wild salmon duo, and seared rib eye medallions.
Locally sourced ingredients are the centrepiece of the event and the Fraser Valley wine pairings are being overseen by volunteer sommelier Kristoff Gillese from the International Sommelier Guild.
"I love the idea of a long table dinner," said Rebecca Awram, one of the event co-chairs. "There's something compelling about communal dining, a group of strangers connecting over their common interest of local fare, culinary excellence and outstanding wines. I am attracted to the idea of reminding diners of the origins of their food, and honouring the producers and food artisans who create it."
There are still a few tickets left for the event that takes place on Aug. 11 at 5:30 p.m. for $150 apiece. They are available from Golden Ears Cheesecrafters in person at 22270 128th Ave. or by phone 604-467-0004.
