The BC Conservatives in the Maple Ridge-Pitt Meadows riding held their annual general meeting on July 25, electing Robbie Armstrong president of the constituency association and Wendy Cook as its vice-president.
The party is waiting till it has 100 members and then it will hold a nomination meeting to choose a candidate for the riding.
In the meantime, BC Liberals in the same riding hope to hold their nomination meeting in late September or early October to choose a candidate to run in next May’s provincial election.
Brent Perry, president of the BC Liberal constituency association, said there are a few people interested in running for the nomination as the riding’s candidate, but none have officially signed up.
The polls for the BC Liberals have showed them trailing the NDP.
“We have some time – we know the polls aren’t great,” he said.
