A group wants to let MP know they don’t like federal budget bill.

A rally dubbed “Love Canada Rally – Defend Democracy” is planned for Saturday afternoon in front of MP Randy Kamp’s office.

A group of citizens are concerned that the federal budget will “gut” environmental protection, endanger food safety, and have a negative effect on people using employment insurance, create hardshop for pensioners in the future, and result in cuts to culture, immigration, and foreign aid.

“The 498-page omnibus federal budget bill recently tabled by the Harper government will put a black mark on Canada,” said organizer Bob Goos. “Canadians of all political stripes, even some Conservative members, have expressed concern about the wide ranging changes that are coming to light day by day.”

The bill amends or throws out some 60 federal statutes, Goos said.

“We invite you to tell them that Canadians will not stand by while our democracy is under attack,” he added.

The rally this Saturday takes place at at 2:30 p.m. in front of Kamp’s office on Lougheed Highway.
