A big man, with black-rimmed glasses, is ripping off local liquor stores.

Mounties are investigating a series of thefts from B.C. Government liquor stores, in Maple Ridge, and in neighbouring communities.

In the last two incidents police says that the suspect walks into the store, and uses a plastic carrying basket to select several bottles of various types of liquor, and then proceeds to the cashier’s area at the front of the store.

“He then runs past the cashiers and out the exit door to the nearby parking lot and disappears,” said Ridge Meadows RCMP Cpl. Alanna Dunlop.

Police suspect he uses a get-away car at this point.

The suspect is described as Caucasian, in his late 20s or early 30s, 6-foot 3-inches tall, with a stocky build, and about 230 pounds.

He has short cropped dark hair and a dark goatee. He wears dark-framed glasses.

In his last two robberies the suspect was wearing a purple button-down shirt with a T-shirt underneath and black shorts.

Anyone with any information is asked to contact Ridge Meadows RCMP Const. Duncan McRae at 604-463-6251.
