Police and search and rescue crews are trying to locate a 25-year-old woman who went missing last night (Thursday) at the north end of Pitt Lake.

The missing woman was with friends, who notified police about the woman’s disappearance Thursday night around 9:30 p.m. RCMP then called search and rescue.

RCMP from Ridge Meadows and Coquitlam, along with Ridge Meadows Search and Rescue personnel are currently searching the north end of Pitt Lake for the missing woman.

The searchers have carried out ground searches throughout the night and are still thoroughly searching the area where the missing woman was last seen.

With daylight, RCMP Air Services are now assisting in the search, along with a dog and handler from the RCMP Lower Mainland District’s Police Dog Services.

The area is very remote and is only accessible by plane or boat.

People from the Pitt River Fishing Lodge have also joined in the search.

All efforts to locate the missing woman are being carried out at this time, according to Sgt. Dale Somerville with the Ridge Meadows RCMP.
