Two crashes on the Golden Ears Bridge tied up traffic on Thursday as commuters were on their way to work.
Ridge Meadows RCMP responded to a two-car crash southbound on the highway and the Langley RCMP responded to a northbound crash involving a motorcycle. Both accidents sent one person to hospital, each with non-life-threatening injuries.
One person was injured in the southbound crash that took place around 7:30 a.m. and was taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Northbound traffic on the Golden Ears Bridge was at a standstill for nearly two hours after a motorcycle crashed into the back of the car he was following.
The investigation revealed speed was a factor in the collision and witnesses report the motorcycle had been switching back and forth between lanes.
After the last lane change was completed the motorcycle collided with the back of another northbound vehicle. This spun the vehicle around causing it to collide with barricades on both sides of the bridge. The occupants in the vehicle were uninjured.
The motorcycle rider, a 23-year-old Surrey man was taken to hospital for treatment of his non-life threatening injuries.
